Event description:

  • India is a land of extraordinary diversity, where every region has its own unique traditions, festivals, costumes, music, and folk dances. The Great Indian Folk Trail invites young learners to embark on an exciting cultural journey across the length and breadth of the country through dance and creative storytelling. 

  • Teams will present a vibrant performance inspired by the rich folk traditions of India. Through a combination of folk dances, music, costumes, props, and creative presentation, participants will take the audience on a trail through different regions of the country, celebrating the customs, festivals, landscapes, and cultural heritage that make India unique. 

  • The performance may showcase one or multiple folk dance forms and should creatively connect them into a meaningful presentation that reflects the spirit of India's diversity and unity. The event aims to foster cultural awareness, creativity, teamwork, and appreciation for India's rich folk heritage among young learners. 

  • Performance Requirements 

  • The presentation must be based on Indian folk dance traditions.

  • Teams may showcase folk dances from one or multiple states/regions of India.

  • The performance should creatively portray aspects of Indian culture such as traditions, festivals, occupations, celebrations, regional diversity, geography, or heritage.

  • The presentation should have a clear theme or storyline that connects the performance elements.

Time Limit

  • Total performance time: 4 minutes.

  • Minimum active dance duration: 3 minutes 30 seconds.

  • Up to 30 seconds may be used for narration, transitions, or creative introductions.

Costumes and Props

  • Costumes should be age-appropriate and culturally respectful. Costumes must reflect the authenticity of the chosen folk dance. 

  • Creativity is welcome, but professional costume hiring is strictly not permitted. Costumes must be school-assisted or self-created only. 

  • Props may be used to enhance the performance.

Music and Technical Requirements 

  • The music track for the performance must be submitted in MP3 format.

  • Participating schools are required to upload their final performance track to their own Google Drive and share the access link via email to gunjur.events@deensacademy.com 2 days prior to the event

  • Schools must ensure that the shared Google Drive link is accessible and does not require permission requests for access.

  • Any changes to the track after submission will not be entertained unless approved by the event organizers.

  • Teams are advised to carry a backup copy of their music track on a pen drive on the day of the event.

Judging Criteria

  • Cultural Representation & Understanding (effective portrayal of Indian traditions, festivals, regions, and heritage) 

  • Authenticity of Folk Dance Forms 

  • Creativity, Theme & Storytelling 

  • Choreography, Coordination & Teamwork 

  • Costumes, Props & Visual Appeal 

  • Stage Presence, Expressions & Audience Engagement

General Rules :

  • All participants are expected to maintain discipline, mutual respect, and uphold the spirit of healthy competition throughout the event.

  • Accompanying teachers are not allowed to take part in any manner during the performance of their school’s team.

  • Participants must come dressed in their costumes to the venue. There is no separate time or space allotted to the participants to get ready for the event.

  • The decision of the judges shall be final and binding.

Mandatory requirements for registration​:

  • The registration fee is Rs 150/- per participant.

  • Participants registering through school need to upload the below soft copies in the registration form

● Bonafide certificate on the school letterhead

● The school ID card
