Event description:
ROUND 1- Katharang – The First Chapter

Every registered participant presents a pre-prepared folk tale, mythological story, or cultural legend.

Rules and Guidelines

The story must be a pre-prepared folk tale, mythological story, or cultural legend.

Language - English

Participants must come fully prepared and ready to perform.
-
The performance should be delivered entirely by the participant without any prompting or assistance from parents, teachers, or accompanying adults.

Costumes and simple hand-held props (such as a crown, puppet, wand, or stick) are permitted but should support the storytelling rather than dominate it.
-
Background music, recorded narration, or digital presentations are not allowed.

The story should be age-appropriate and culturally respectful.
-
Participants are encouraged to use voice modulation, facial expressions, gestures, and stage presence to enhance their narration.

The decision of the judges will be final and binding.

Participants must adhere to the allotted time limit. Exceeding the time limit may result in a deduction of marks.

Presentation time- 3 minutes

The top 5 scorers will move to Round 2.
ROUND 2 – Katha Twist – Where stories take a surprise turn!

Each participant receives a moral or value such as Honesty, Kindness, Courage, Respect, Gratitude, Perseverance, Sharing, or Responsibility. Participants must narrate a short original story inspired by the given moral. They will retell the original story with a creative twist or imagine a new adventure involving the character or theme.

Rules and Guidelines

Finalists will receive their assigned moral 15 minutes before the performance.

Participants must prepare their story independently during the preparation time.
-
The assigned moral must be clearly reflected in the story.
-
The story should be original and created by the participant during the preparation period.

Participants may draw inspiration from folklore, mythology, fables, legends, or cultural stories, but should add their own creative ideas or unexpected twists.
-
The narration should have a clear beginning, middle, and end.
-
Stories must be age-appropriate and respectful of all cultures, communities, and beliefs.
-
Participants may use voice modulation, facial expressions, and simple hand gestures to enhance their storytelling.
-
No costumes, props, background music, sound effects, or visual aids are permitted in this round.
-
Participants must remain within the 3-minute time limit.

Preparation time- 15 minutes

Presentation time- 3 minutes
Judging Criteria
-
Expressions and Emotions- appropriate voice tone, facial expressions and body language.
-
Clarity and Pronunciation- clear articulation and confident delivery
-
Voice Modulation and Pace- effective changes in pitch, pace and volume to enhance the reading.
Mandatory requirements for registration:
The registration fee is Rs 150/- per participant.
Participants registering through school need to upload the below soft copies in the registration form
