Event description:

A poetry-writing contest with a twist! 

Guidelines:

• Participants will be provided with a theme that will be identical for all

• Each participant will then be given 5 words at random along with one emotion. 

• Participants will have to use these words and the emotion given to construct a poem using all the words to metaphorically describe the emotion.

Judging Criteria​

Use of Clues 

• All five clues are incorporated meaningfully into the poem.

• Clues are connected naturally to the theme.

Expression of Emotion 

• The given emotion is clearly conveyed throughout the poem.

• The poem evokes the intended feeling in the reader.

Creativity and Originality 

• Unique ideas, imagination, and fresh expression.

• Innovative use of the clues.

Poetic Elements and Language 

• Effective use of poetic devices such as rhyme, rhythm, imagery, metaphor, simile, personification, etc.

• Appropriate vocabulary and style.

Structure and Presentation 

• Well-organized poem with a clear flow.

• Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and neat presentation.
