Round 1

Participants will ponder on the chosen topic for a given period of time, after picking up their topics from the given lot, then pen down their thoughts into poetry, followed by a lively and engaging presentation

For Round 1, preparation time given would be 10 mins; Composition- 15 mins; Presentation-3 mins (10 secs buffer)

Round 2

Selected participants get another round of topics(randomly picked up by the participants themselves) followed by the same procedure of thinking, composing and presenting

Poems on the chosen topic should be an original creation by the participant

Participants are not permitted to use props during their performance

No musical accompaniment or musical instruments may be used when performing, but the poet is allowed to sing, clap, hum, or make noise with the mouth or tap his/her feet

Unrhyming narrative formula, traditional theatrical devices including shifting voices and tones may be used. Boundaries of the format can be stretched with tap-dancing or beatboxing or using highly choreographed movements.

The spoken words should not be vulgar/explicit/offensive by any means. The composition must not be derogatory towards any ethnic group, religion or individual. It needs to be appropriate for a school-level event.
